With the current problems of the UK property market, it is no wonder that Halifax’ survey reflects fears from non home-owners. Halifax has gathered a survey and the results were somewhat expected however the extend of the problem is quite surprising.

The survey targeted people who don’t own a house yet and still thinking of acquiring one. Unfortunately, with the rather strange goings-on of the housing market, would-be home-owners fear that the dream of owning a home is slim to none. Nearly two-thirds of the people surveyed think that they won’t be able to buy a house.

With the lending requirements and standard being the highest for long time, Halifax survey have found that a lot of would-be home-buyers are discouraged by the tight lending criteria and huge deposits demanded by banks.

Sadly, with house prices still quite high compared to relative earnings combined with struggling employment market; it will remain likely difficult for would-be home-owner to gather the level of deposit required by the banks. This regretfully sad situation is therefore likely to last.
